These are the characteristics most associated with Chrysantus A. Atanga. He is serving his second term as Assistant Treasurer of the Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (CPDM) in the US Section. He is the father of five children. 

Chrys, as he is fondly called, is highly adaptable to any environment or business. As Assistant Treasurer, he will assist in meeting the financial objectives of the Section and he’s empowered to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the Treasurer in the absence of the Treasurer. He is an entrepreneur with a keen understanding of business operations including sales and management, and he will assist to oversee the administration to ensure a better functioning of the treasury of the Section. He will also assist in providing strategic leadership and strong internal Financial discipline.

Chrys’s has a critical role as Section Assistant Treasurer of CPDM USA, to provide support to the Treasurer in the implementation of the budget and also to produce and distribute timely financial report(s) as required. He is  well equipped to help direct the Section as a financial professional with extensive knowledge of fiscal administration principles and practices of municipal accounting, including treasury management, budget administration, purchasing, and reporting. He also has a passion for excellence, is financially savvy, has a strong work ethic, ability to exercise excellent judgement to make independent decisions in dealing with top leaders, and a proven ability to work effectively across the Section.

He was elected Training Officer in 2015 under President Patience Tamfu’s first term. He served in the CNU (which later became CPDM) Branch as President in Bonaberie, Douala, under the leadership of Al Tanko Asan as Sub-Section President. In addition to Chrys’s role as Section Assistant Treasurer, he is the Liaison Executive for the Business, Investment and Economic Committee. He is also a management member of the CPDM USA (2022) Section Conference.

Biography

Professionally, Chrys is the founder of Sky Shipping Line, a USA-based Company which specializes on import/export, located in the Baltimore Area of Maryland. The company ships to African countries, Europe and the Caribbean. His areas of expertise are in: Strategic Planning, Business Development and Problem-solving, Contract Negotiation, Client/Account Relations, Project Management, Quality Standards Development, and Business Operations including Sales and Management.

Prior to this, he was Owner/President of Camwest Development Corporation (1999-2001). A Transportation Company in Baltimore, Maryland, which provided ambulatory and wheelchair services for residents in the nearby cities. 

Chrys has broad experiences ranging from the establishment of startup corporations to restructuring mature businesses across Central Africa and the United States.  With over 33 years of experience in progressively demanding, decision-making positions in management and sales areas of effective business organizations. He has a proven track record of successfully performing management assignments in sales, marketing, research and manufacturing. He also served as a mentor while he supervised, trained and evaluated employees.  

In his role as Managing Director and CEO of Casma-Bois, Cameroon, Africa (1987-1995), he had management responsibility for key accounts in addition to financial, sales and support functions for this construction company. Chrys built a client base, secured placement contracts and provided input for the development of sales and marketing promotions. 

Chrys has also led a career of service in job creation and benevolent engagements in various communities. 

OTHER MAJOR ACCOMPLISHMENTS – DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVES

  • Established the C.C.M. Sarl. 1990 (An export, import company in Douala, Cameroon, Central Africa). Deals with importation and distribution of hardware materials for building, exportation of tropical wood to Europe and the Far East and also construction and management of office buildings, schools and multi-projects.
  • Helped to raise money to fund the above project by negotiating for shares purchase from successful business associates in Douala.
  • Successfully opened three similar branches in major cities in Cameroon and improved sales growth by negotiating building contracts, major ones being the German School of  Cameroon.
